Wake: Up to Poetry
Today is a sad day. Not only is it raining and the middle of midterm exams, but the afternoon at the press, I’ve come to realize that book reviewers are a dying breed. Once a set feature in every major publication, the book review has gone by the wayside. Even more so, poetry reviews have become nearly extinct.
As the official date for Vona Groarke’s Spindrift comes closer, we’ve started the process of sending out books for review. We’re all crossing our fingers with cautious anticipation, and ask that you do the same. Is there still a place for literary discussion in a modern newspaper? We hope so.
