"The act of poetry is a rebel act."

Ciaran Carson to Read at UGA on April 10th

One of WFUP’s most distinguished poets, Ciaran Carson, will be reading selections of his work at the University of Georgia this week, on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 7 PM. The university is hosting the 2013 Atlantic Archipelagos Research Project, and Carson’s reading will be a feature of the welcome ceremony. The event reflects on elements of British and Irish culture, national identities, and landscapes.

The University of Georgia is immensely excited to be hosting Carson, calling him “one of the most gifted Irish artists of his generation.” He will be reading a mix of old and new work, particularly from his forthcoming publication In the Light Of. Most recently, Carson has published On the Night Watch (2010) and Until Before After (2010). His work is known for its balance of political and personal, reality and nostalgia.
